Bring your bay window to life
Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 1:32PM The definition of a bay window is a window that projects outward from the face of a home/building and forming a bay.
Simple enough right?
But add Mouldex Mouldings to that and here's what you get. A stylized window that projects outward from the face of house/building and forming an elegant bay.
The trend of "upgrading" bay windows is becoming more popular. As it should be. It takes up a nice amount of real estate and is a big eye-grabber to onlookers. For homeowners wanting to add a lot but spend a little, consider this.
The cost can range between $1500 and $2500 depending on the size. This includes the cost of mouldings, materials and labour. This inexpensive option can liven the look your home without opting for a complete exterior reno.
A poplular design, as shown in the link below is to continously place a crown moulding above the window, completely covering the open space. Trim is installed below it, running vertically along each window edge.
The design is completed by connecting the above two elements with a sill, again going end to end like the crown moulding.
There are other options available to you, some more simple and some more complex. Each bay window is unique and should be treated as such. Feel free to email us a picture of yours and we can advise on what direction to go in.
